Double crime suspected behind disappearance of two Larnaca-based Russian women

Police suspect a double crime is behind the disappearance for 12 days now of two Russian women who lived in coastal Larnaca, Philenews reported on Monday.

A man was arrested on Saturday and has been remanded in custody for seven days by Larnaca district court.

Police are investigating the possibility the two Russia women, aged 43 and 33, to have been kidnapped and possibly murdered.

The suspect admitted he had taken the two women to his holiday home in Moniatis at their own will. Ad that he had returned them to Larnaca the same day.

On Friday and Saturday, police investigators who searched the Moniatis home found traces of blood in various spots and tests on samples taken confirmed the worst-case scenario.

That is, the blood detected is, firstly, human, and secondly, it is identified with the genetic material of one of the disappeared.

The tests were carried out by the Institute of Neurology and Genetics in Nicosia.

Investigations are ongoing with a number of people related to the suspect but also of the two women have already been questioned.
