The Department of Forests will hand out free young trees to the public as part of national celebrations of Tree Week 2020 that will take place from February 2 to February 8 across Cyprus.
On Sunday the Department in collaboration with the Nicosia Municipality will be handing out trees in Nicosia Old town at the start of Ledra/Onasagorou streets from 10am to 11am.
An official ceremony to take place in Nicosia on Sunday will mark the beginning of festivities that will involve the planting of trees in the schoolyard of Anthoupolis Gymnasium in the presence of Minister of Agriculture Costas Kadis.
Participants can also pick up their tree at one of the Tree Week events taking place across Cyprus:
-Limassol: Thursday, February 6, 10am, Pachna Primary School
-Larnaca: Friday, February 7, 11am, Xylofagou A’ Primary School
-Paphos: Friday, February 7, 9am, Drousia Community Council Cultural Centre
