‘Cyprus Women Motorbikers’ is the island’s first women only club that organises motorcycle trips, fund raising events and much more.
But above all the club helps and tries to inspire women who would like to start riding, member Marianna Karavali tells Philenews.
“We have to overcome the taboo that women and motor bikes are not compatible but also the stereotype that these machines are ‘killers’,” she said.
“Motorbikes do not kill, human beings kill and are killed. When one drives properly, observes the rules of the road and wear the right outfit – helmet, jacket, gloves, suitable shoes – then a motorbike can become your best friend,” she added.
After 11 years of existence, the club was officially registered as an exclusive one on August 11.
