This year’s Cyprus State Architecture Awards ceremony is taking place on January 9, 2020 at 18:30 at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia and the awards will be handed to this year’s winners by President Anastasiades, Phileleftheros writes.

The triennial awards were established in 1992 and aim to publically recognise outstanding examples of Cypriot contemporary architecture and to promote high-quality architecture.

An exhibition of the winning projects, as well as other notable works, will take place at the Presidential Palace on January 9 and then from January 10 – February 20 at the main offices of the Department of Town Planning and Housing.

The parameters considered for the shortlisting of projects are their composition, operation, construction, aesthetics, and their usefulness to people and society.

This year, participating constructions were also judged on how well-incorporated they were in their surrounding environment as well as on their use of materials and environmentally-friendly technologies.
