Cyprus sizzles as temperatures soar to 41 C inland

Cyprus is set for blistering hot day as temperatures inland soar to 41 C, which is significantly above the seasonal average.

The Met Office has issued an extreme high temperature warning from 12.30 to 17.00 on Saturday and said that the high temperatures will continue, and possibly edge up further in the next few days.

In its early morning weather forecast, the Met Office said a warm and dry air mass is affecting the area and there may at intervals be light dust in the atmosphere.

Saturday will be fine and hot. Temperatures will rise to 41 C inland, around 34 C on the west coast, around 37 C on the remaining coasts and around 31 C in the mountains.

Tonight will be fine with temperatures of 25 C inland, around 27 C on the southeast and east coasts, around 23 C on the west coast and around 21 C on the remaining coasts and in the mountains.

Sunday, Monday and Tuesday will remain fine and hot. Temperatures may edge up a little more, remaining noticeably above the seasonal average.
