Cyprus President informs Greek counterpart over Cyprus developments

Relevant News

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades informed his Greek counterpart, Prokopis Pavlopoulos, over the latest developments regarding the Cyprus problem, with Pavlopoulos expressing his “strong support.”

Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou wrote on Twitter that during a long telephone conversation with the President of the Hellenic Republic, Prokopis Pavlopoulos, President Anastasiades informed him about the latest developments regarding Cyprus’ national cause.

“President Pavlopoulos reiterated his strong support and that of Greece towards Cyprus” the Spokesman concluded.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkish troops invaded and occupied 37% of its territory. Repeated rounds of UN-led peace talks have so far failed to yield results. The latest round of negotiations, in the summer of 2017 at the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana, ended inconclusively.
