After an alarmingly increased number of coronavirus cases island-wide over the past three days, President Nicos Anastasiades convenes on Monday afternoon a meeting with the advisory team on the pandemic.
Additional measures to curb the spread, including a new lockdown, are not ruled out after the situation is assessed, insiders said.
The meeting is set at 7pm at the Presidential Palace in the presence of Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou.
On Saturday, 314 cases were recorded and one death, setting a new record for the country. The new cases include 92 workers at a Nicosia district slaughterhouse.
The Health Minister has stressed the importance of following the measures in place.
