Cyprus decides this week whether children aged 12-15 could be vaccinated

Relevant News

Cyprus decides this week whether children aged 12-15 could be vaccinated against Covid-19 as infections continue to rise, Philenews reports.

The scientific team advising the government on Covid-19 will meet on Thursday afternoon in the presence of the Health Minister and the Cyprus Pediatrician Society’s head to exchange views on this controversial issue.

Insiders believe if younger teenagers are included in the inoculation programme this could help protect vulnerable youngsters and relatives and prepare the way for a return to school in September.

But voices against the inoculation of youngsters are also there with two health experts sending the message on Tuesday that “vaccination of children won’t solve all problems sparked by the pandemic at schools.”

One of them went as far as to tell Philenews that certain Health Ministry officers do not provide all necessary information need for the best coordination between relevant services.
