Cyprus’ coronavirus positivity rate is now 2.76 per cent, no patient in ICU

Health authorities on Friday reported 1,814 new coronavirus cases in Cyprus for the period of May 27 to June 2 after a total of 65,706 tests. The positivity rate is 2.76 per cent.

In its latest weekly update, authorities also reported eight deaths due to the virus and 35 patients in state hospitals.

The positive news, however, was that no one is being treated right now in an intensive care unit.

As for the total number of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic this is now 491,777.

The total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic is now 1,067.

The eight deaths concerned five men and three women, aged between 50 and 88.

A total of 65,706 tests were carried out in the past week, of which 4,321 were PCR tests that resulted in 216 positive cases.

The remaining 61,385 were rapid tests with 1,598 people testing positive.
