Cyprus also to be affected by world food prices hitting 10-year peak

Relevant News

World food prices have hit a 10-year peak because of the rising cost of wheat, cereals, sugars and vegetable oils and Cyprus won’t be an exception to this alarming effect.

This is what Philenews reported on Tuesday, adding that a  number of basic consumer goods such as bread, milk, eggs, cheese, pasta and meat will see an imminent  price hike.

And that suppliers have already informed supermarkets about this inevitability.

In particular, the price of bread is to imminently rise by up to 20%, along with those of spaghetti and cereals.

Moreover, the price of flour is expected to be 11%, that of biscuits by 5%, washing powder by 4.5%, coffee by 7% and animal feed by 20%.

Consumers are expected to be confronted with these increases within the coming days – most probably by November’s beginning.
