Cyprus: 47% of deaths in November due to Covid-19, namely 35 people

An analysis published by the Ministry of Health on Friday shows that 47% of patients who had contracted Covid-19 or 35 people died in November. The cause of death for 23 of them was Covid-19. At the same time, the permanent residence of 71% of those 35 patients was Limassol district.

Until December 3, 2020, 74 deaths of people who were diagnosed as having Covid-19 have occurred in Cyprus, according to the analysis, 66% or 49 were men and 34% or 25 were women.

Covid-19 was the cause of death of 53 or 72% of the 74 deaths. Twenty three people who died from Covid-19 were residents of Limassol district, 10 were residents of Larnaca district, 9 were residents of Pafos district, 8 were residents of Nicosia district and 3 were residents of Famagusta district.

Men who died from Covid-19 account for 66% (35) of total deaths from the disease while 34% (18) were women.

The analysis also shows that 23% of deaths occurred in the age group of 80 – 84 and that one in five deaths occurred in the age group of 75 – 79.

Out of the total 74 deaths in Cyprus, 35 or 47% occurred in November, while 43% (13 deaths) of total deaths in November occurred during the 46th week of this year.

In November, 71% of total people passing away who had contracted Covid-19 were permanent residents of Limassol district.
