Relevant News

The Education Ministry has announced that mobile units are continuing sample taking for coronavirus tests among pupils, teachers and other staff at schools.

On Friday, samples were taken at six upper secondary schools (lyceums) — four in Nicosia, one in Larnaca and one in the free Famagusta area.

On Monday, samples will be taken at nine lyceums and technical schools — three lyceums in Nicosia, two in Limassol, one in the free Famagusta area and two in Paphos as well as a technical school in Larnaca.

During Friday’s meeting at the Presidential Palace between President Nicos Anastasiades and the team of scientists advising the government on the coronavirus outbreak, it was decided that tests also begin on Monday for lower secondary schools and primary schools — that is ahead of the start of class on Thursday.

Only primary, lower secondary pupils going back to school on May 21

Tests will be carried out at two lower secondary schools, one in Nicosia and one in Limassol and at two primary schools, again one each in Nicosia and Limassol.

From Tuesday, sample testing will be expanded islandwide at primary and lower secondary schools.
