Coronavirus – Travel agents: ‘We are falling apart; no bookings, only cancellations’

Relevant News

Travel agents released on Wednesday a plea for financial support due to Coronavirus repercussions as the President of the Association of Cyprus Travel Agents (ACTA) Vasilis Stamataris told journalists that the sector makes up 70% of incoming and the entirety of outgoing tourism, Insider reports.

He added that following the financial crisis and the collapse of airline Cobalt the sector counted losses in excess of €1 million.

“Given the gravity of the situation, the sector faces collapse. There are no new bookings; the day’s worload only comprises cancellations,” Stamataris warned.

The Association is reportedly launching claims for European funding and extension of social insurance and VAT payment deadlines.
