Three individuals who travelled recently to Italy and came into contact with a confirmed coronavirus case have tested negative for the virus but will remain in isolation for 14 days for precautionary reasons, Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou said on Twitter on Thursday.
Meanwhile, a suspect coronavirus case in the Turkish-occupied north has also tested negative, CyBC said quoting the bicommunal committee on health.
Cyprus’ preparedness for a possible coronavirus outbreak was reviewed by a ministerial committee yesterday and is due to be discussed by the Council of Ministers today.
Phileleftheros reports that cabinet will consider the possibility of additional measures being taken at the checkpoints.
Last night a woman who had been in Italy last week was taken to Limassol Hospital and placed in quarantine after it emerged that she had come into contact with a confirmed coronavirus case in Italy.
Phileleftheros reported on Thursday that in fact three women were in quarantine all for the same reason.
This was confirmed on Twitter by the Health Minister early on Thursday morning.
“The three individuals who travelled to Italy recently and came into contact with a confirmed case have tested negative for coronavirus. They will remain in isolation for 14 days in line with protocol for preventive reasons,” he wrote.

Twelve high school pupils and their teachers whose Erasmus exchange trip in Milan was cut short because of the coronavirus outbreak returned to Cyprus yesterday.
All were examined and showed no symptoms. They have been instructed to self-quarantine for 14 days.
The minister said yesterday he had reviewed the preparedness of the health professionals at Larnaca Airport and said he had found that the facilities are well organised.
