Coronavirus: SBAs to follow Republic’s lockdown measures

British Forces Cyprus and the Sovereign Base Areas Administration will also implement the measures announced by the Republic of Cyprus last night, effective from 6 pm today, an SBAA spokesman has confirmed.

“This will include restrictions on movement, the closure of public gathering spaces and the suspension of all but essential operational and business activity,” spokesperson said.

It is essential that the Bases and the Republic of Cyprus continue to work in-step with each other to fight the spread of COVID-19, the spokesman said adding that detailed advice will be issues to the Bases community about how these measures will be implemented later today.
