The British Bases have confirmed that a member of the British Forces Cyprus community permanently based in Akrotiri has tested positive for COVID-19.
The individual is currently in self-isolation and is displaying only mild symptoms, they said in an announcement issued a little after the Ministry of Health announced nine new cases, including that of an individual at the Bases.
Today’s case brings the total number of positive tests within the British Bases to three.
“There will be no further information released. British Forces Cyprus continues to align with the Republic of Cyprus as we respond to this illness together, ” the Bases concluded.
Earlier today, the British Bases announced that all six schools within the SBAs have closed until April 20.
