Coronavirus: Nicosia Municipality suspends events, closes museums

Nicosia Municipality has closed museums and is suspending civil weddings as part of measures to contain the spread of coronavirus.

In an announcement on Thursday, the municipality asked the public to restrict visits to its offices to the absolute essential.

Civil weddings are suspended until March 22. The municipality will not be accepting applications of payments for building and town planning permits until March 22 or issuing alcohol licences until March 20.

The Levention Municipal Museum, CVAR and Hambis Engraving Museum are closed until March 20.

All performances at the municipal theatre and other cultural centres of the municipality are postponed until March 31.

The Kaimakli walk held every Monday in cooperation with the deputy ministry of tourism is postponed and only the walk within the walled city will be held on Monday and Thursday, until March 31.

The municipality’s cash office will be open daily from 9 am to 2.30 pm. Payments can also be made online on  https://www.nicosiamunicipality.org.cy/
