Coronavirus: New entry rules at 6 pm, quarantine for all arrivals

Relevant News

Hermes Airports is working closely with the state health services so as to implement the new entry measures at 6 pm, as per the government’s decision to restrict entry only to those who have a certificate that they are free of coronavirus. All arrivals will also be subject to a 14 day quarantine at state facilities.

Hermes Airports senior communications manager Maria Kouroupi told the Cyprus News Agency that flights were being carried out normally at Larnaca and Paphos Airports, but there have been many cancellations and many have very few passengers. Some airplanes are coming in to repatriate tourists.

She said airlines have been informed that after 6 pm, entry to Cyprus will not be permitted without the health certificate from an accredited lab from the country of departure.

If passengers go to the airport, they will not be allowed to board without the certificate, otherwise the airline will be liable.

Passengers arriving at Larnaca and Paphos Airports after 6 pm will have no visual contact with their families who may come to the airport to greet them.

They will show their coronavirus free certificate, undergo a medical examination and then board buses that have been disinfected  and taken to the old terminal of Larnaca airport under police escort.

From there they will be taken by bus to the facilities designated by the state for 14 days quarantine.

Any passenger who arrives without a certificate will return on the same flight.
