The Ministry of Health re-assessed Coronavirus measures at the Nicosia and Limassol hospitals late on Wednesday and released updates that include the reopening of outpatient clinics.
In a meeting between officials of the Ministry of Health, the Epidemiological Monitoring Unit and the State Health Services Organisation, it was said that all indoor and outdoor areas at the Nicosia Hospital have been disinfected as per the relevant protocol.
In addition, the following was decided:
1. For Nicosia Hospital
-The outpatient clinic reopens except the cardiovascular surgery unit, which is suspended until Sunday, March 15.
-Regarding cardiological cases at the outpatient clinic, only patients to be contacted by the hospital’s cardiological unit may visit the premises.
-All scheduled surgeries and admissions are suspended until Sunday, March 15.
-The cardiac surgery clinic reopens but will only provide services to patients already admitted, who will be gradually released based on their clinical condition.
-Cardiac surgery incidents will be outsourced to the private sector.
-Visitation for all patients is suspended until Sunday, March 15.
2. For Limassol Hospital
-All scheduled appointments at the outpatient clinic resume as of Thursday, March 12.
-All scheduled surgeries and admissions are suspended until Sunday, March 15,
-Visitation times should be strictly adhered to, i.e. from 13:00-14:00 and 17:00-19:00 and should take place when absolutely necessary with no more than one visitor at a time.
The Ministry calls on all patients of all districts to only visit A&E for real emergencies.
People who have travelled to areas affected by the Coronavirus in the last 14 days and present mild symptoms should NOT visit A&E but should instead remain at home and call 1420 for instructions.
Finally, the Ministry calls on the public to use the 1420 helpline responsibly and only to report symptoms, to keep lines free for emergencies.
The ministry will keep the public informed on any further developments.
