Coronavirus: Junior/Senior School says pupils who visited Greece, UK should self-isolate

Relevant News

The Junior and Senior School Nicosia has written to parents informing them not to bring their children to school tomorrow if they have travelled to the UK or Greece in the past 14 days.

The letter follows an updated announcement from the Health Ministry which among other said that the UK and Greece have now been placed in Category 2 for Covid-19.

“If you or your child have travelled to the UK or Greece in the last 14 days you need to self-isolate for 14 days after your return and your child should not come into school from tomorrow,” the school said.

Alternative arrangements will be made for pupils who have mocks.

Staff who have travelled to these countries have been instructed to self-isolate for 14 days which means that pupils may have a cover teacher or perhaps some classes will be merged as the school copes with absent staff.

The school will remain open pending further instructions from the Ministry of Education.

The school added it is exploring ways to share its Office 365 learning platform to share work and resources with students from Years 5-13 if they are absent or if there is a need to close the school in the near future. For younger years the school said it will be in touch with parents to inform them of arrangements if it does close.

The school also said it continues to follow the advice of all ministries in Cyprus and the World Health Organization and will keep parents updated.
