Commissioner for Volunteerism Yiannis Yiannaki has activated the protocol covering volunteers in emergency situations and is calling of all those over 18 interested in helping to complete the relevant forms.
The protocol aims to offer insurance cover for volunteers and to allow more effective coordination of volunteer actions in cooperation with the government services.

It can be sent by email ( [email protected],  [email protected] ) or fax 22400181.
On completion of the document, the volunteers will be given insurance cover and used for initiatives which will be designed based on needs. Volunteers’ safety is a key concern.
The office said that for any volunteer initiative, there must be both insurance and proper information and protocols so as to avert transmission of the virus.
“Specialised management is needed of volunteers and actions undertaken at times of pandemic,” it added.
