Coronavirus: €750 grant for students who do not return to Cyprus over Easter

Relevant News

The Education Ministry has announced that following yesterday’s decision by the Council of Ministers it has set up an electronic platform to accept applications for a special €750 allowance to be paid to tertiary education students who do not return to Cyprus for the Easter holidays. The measure aims to cover students’ expenses in their country of study.

The ministry said that it will shortly be issuing a new announcement with detailed instructions on how to submit the application online as well as the documents that must accompany it.

New rules that come into force at 6 pm require all those entering Cyprus to present a health certificate that they have tested negative for coronavirus. All arrivals will also be subject to 14 days mandatory quarantine.

Social media has been flooded with complaints from students who say they cannot obtain such a certificate where they are studying, with overstretched health authorities focusing on those who have symptoms or have been in contact with a confirmed case.
