The Cyprus Medical Association said on Sunday that Cyprus should follow the example of other countries and restrict all non- essential movement.
In a message on Twitter, the CMA said: Urgent recommendation of CMA: Prohibition of every purposeless movement and circulation must be IMMEDIATELY imposed in Cyprus too.
The appeal came a little after Greece announced a lockdown, restricting movement from Monday morning with only a few exceptions, to combat the spread of coronavirus.
The CMA also re-twitted the TV address by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announcing the lock down there.
