Companies have heeded a call from the Chamber of Commerce to donate protective gearĀ to boost the health services’ efforts to address the coronavirus epidemic, philenews reports.
It said that two companies Kostas A. Zaharia Ltd and Cyprus Airports Duty Free have already stepped up and are donating masks.
The first company imports and exports meat and has donated 4600 masks that it had as stock in its warehouses for its production lines.
The second company is donating 600 masks purchased to be used by staff for their protection. The closure of the airport has led to the suspension of the operations ofĀ Cyprus Airports Duty Free and the masks will therefore be donated.
Chamber chairman Christodoulos Angastiniotis thanked the companies.
A similar initiative has been launched by the Employers and Industrialists Federation which is trying to secureĀ masks and other protective gear such as gloves, gowns as well as respirators for the public hospitals.
