Coronavirus: Authorities in occupied areas rent Kyrenia hotel to quarantine students back from UK

Authorities in the Turkish-occupied northern Cyprus reportedly rented ‘Malpas’ hotel in Ayios Epiktitos village in Kyrenia to quarantine for 14 days Turkish-Cypriot students that will return to Cyprus from the UK, the CNA reports.

According to the the president of the Turkish Cypriot Youth Association UK Nafiya Horozoglu, Turkish-Cypriot students will return to Cyprus on Friday via the illegal Tymbou airport on a chartered flight.

The announcement was made by so-called prime minister Ersin Tatar following a meeting on Tuesday on financial measures to be taken by the so-called government to manage the Coronavirus crisis.

Horozoglu said on social media that one Turkish-Cypriot student was on the flight that landed in Paphos last night and three were on one that landed in Larnaca and are all now in Troodos together with the rest of the passengers that landed at the airports of the Republic of Cyprus after 6pm pm Monday.

It was reported on Tuesday that around 40,000 Turkish students are on their way back to Turkey via Turkish air carriers as well as from Kyrenia port, and another 30,000, most of whom Nigerian, are stranded due to restrictions.
