Coronavirus: Another eight test positive, brings total to 75

The Health Ministry has announced that another eight patients have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 75.

Speaking to reporters at the Health Ministry on Friday afternoon, Dr George Nicolopoulou and  Dr Zoi Pana said there were eight new confirmed Covid-19 cases.

  • three are health professionals at Paphos Hospital
  • one is a  health professional at a private Paphos hospital
  • one is in the administration of Limassol Hospital
  • three are from contacts with confirmed cases. Two transmissions were within the family and one contact with confirmed cases who had come from abroad

Two of the 75 confirmed cases are in stable condition at Limassol’s ICU while 12 are at Famagusta General Hospital which is the referral hospital.

This means there are now 75 confirmed cases (including three in the British Bases). Of these 45 are from contacts.

There are also 33 confirmed cases in the Turkish held north.
