Another 13 German tourists have tested positive for coronavirus in Turkish-held north Cyprus , bringing the totalĀ number of cases there to 20, the Cyprus News Agency reports.
It said that of the 20, 18 are German tourists and two Turkish Cypriots. Both Turkish Cypriots had returned from the UK via Larnaca Airport earlier in March.
All the German touristsĀ belong to the same 39 strongĀ group as the first patient, a 65 year old woman who tested positive.
The 13 tourists were being monitored and in quarantine at a hotel having come into contact with the first patient.
Three hotels are in lock down in northern Cyprus where authorities have announced sweeping restrictions to contain the spread of coronavirus.
Meanwhile, three Turkish Cypriot students in quarantine in Platres after arriving in Larnaca on Monday night, will be transferred to the north today at their request, the co-chair of the bicommunal committee on health Leonidas Phylactou told CyBC on Wednesday morning.
There are 49 confirmed cases in the areas controlled by the Republic of Cyprus.
