Another 13 patients have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Republic of Cyprus to 46.
In an announcement on Monday afternoon, the Health Ministry said that it had been notified by the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics of 13 new confirmed cases.
They are
– One patient and ten health professionals at Paphos Hospital who came into contact with the patient who was in the ICU and has tested positive for coronavirus. That patient, a 65 year old Briton, is understood to have contracted the virus after being visited by family from the UK.
– Two people who returned from abroad, one from the UK and the other from Greece
The epidemiological monitoring unit has started tracing the contacts of the 13 new cases and will carry out tests, the ministry added.
In addition, in coordination with the state health services organisation (Okipi) it will reassess the situation at Paphos Hospital.
The ministry said there are now 46 confirmed cases of which 25 are from contact with others who had tested positive.
There are also six confirmed cases in the Turkish held north.
