The Health Ministry announced on Sunday that another 11 patients have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 95 (including three in the British Bases).
According to the update from the Ministry of Health, the new cases are:
- two people that came into contact with confirmed cases
- four people associated with Paphos hospital
- four people that had travelled abroad (UK, Mexico) who presented symptoms after their return and contacted the competent authorities
- one person whose history is being investigated
The Epidemiological monitoring unit has already started tracing the contacts of the new cases and will take swabs to run tests.
Thirteen patients are currently being treated at Famagusta hospital, the referral hospital for Covid-19. Another three are intubated at the Limassol hospital ICU in a stable condition and one is being treated at Nicosia hospital.
There are also two possible cases of Covid-19 (that came positive in the lab check) for which confirmation is pending by the Institute of Neurology.
Three patients have been discharged.
Fifty of the 94 cases confirmed so far were the result of contact with people who had contracted the virus.
