Coronavirus: 6 patients that tested positive ‘in very good health’, one critical

Six patients that tested positive to Coronavirus treated at the Famagusta Hospital, which is operating as a reference hospital for the disease, were said to be “in very good health” on Wednesday, but another patient, a 70 year old man, is in critical condition due to his underlying health problems, reported CNA on Wednesday citing insider information.

The Famagusta Hospital said in an announcement that from March 17 to March 23 it suspends all scheduled appointments at the outpatient clinic, the X-ray department and the physiotherapy department following the latest instructions by the Ministry of Health. A&E, the dialysis unit, the hospital lab and the pharmacy will remain open.

It also said that pregnant women who had scheduled appointments at the Famagusta Hospital from March 17 to March 27 should call the Obstetrics Department at Larnaca Hospital on 24800412 to book their appointments. Their examinations will be performed by gynaecologists at the Famagusta Hospital.

Patients with Coronavirus symptoms who were told by 1420 operators to visit the infectious disease lab in the basement of the Famagusta Hospital should enter the lab from the entrance that leads directly to the basement next to the A&E.

The hospital regretted any inconvenience caused to patients but said that these changes are necessary to protect patients and staff from the virus, reminding the general public to only visit the hospital in the case of an emergency.
