Relevant News

A total of 17 patients are being treated on Tuesday at Famagusta Hospital, the referral hospital for Covid-19.

According to CNA, yesterday three patients were transferred there, including one elderly patient found positive to the virus who was previously being treated at Larnaca Hospital and one person who was in self-isolation in Nicosia.

Four people are being treated in the ICU of the referral hospital while one person may be discharged tonight after the results of his second test come out.

Meanwhile, the referral hospital’s Infectious Diseases Unit has been boosted with a new machine that rapidly traces and analyses samples taken from patients without needing to send them to the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics in Nicosia.

The machine has already been installed and is pending some additional arrangements before being put in operation.

The referral hospital has also been staffed with one ICU specialist, three pneumonologists, one psychologist, one infectious disease specialist and one additional pathologist.
