Confirmed COVID-19 infections rise to 3,064 in the last 14 days

In the last 14 days (17-30 November), 3,064 cases of coronavirus were diagnosed in Cyprus, according to data published in the National Surveillance Report, produced by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health.

The 14-day cumulative notification rate is 349.1 per 100,000 population.

It is worth noting that Nicosia now has an almost equal number of confirmed cases as Limassol with 371.7 per 100,000 population. Famagusta also had an increase with 351.9 per 100,000 population.

In total, 121 people with COVID-19 received hospital care, on 2 December. The median age of hospitalized patients was 78 years (IQR: 63-85 years). Hospitalized cases were mainly women (n = 61; 50.4.3%).

Overall, 14 persons have been admitted to ICUs, including 10 who are intubated. The median age of patients ever admitted to ICU was 72 years (IQR: 68-81years). ICU patients are mainly male (71.4%).

A total of 624,566 tests had been performed by 2 December (71.305,6 per 100,000 population). In particular, over the last 14 days 70,248 tests have been performed (8.020,1 per 100,000 population).

As of 30 November, 52 deaths were reported in Cyprus (Case Fatality Risk-CFR: 0.5%). The mortality for COVID-19 is 5.9 per 100,000 population. Thirty-five deaths (67.3%) involved men and 17 (32.7%) women; the median age of all deaths was 76.5 years (IQR: 68.5-83 years).

Twenty-three deaths were reported among residents in Limassol, 10 in Larnaca, nine in Paphos, seven in Nicosia, and three in Famagusta. The median time from date of sampling to death was 11 days (IQR: 5-17.5 days).
