The bad weather of the last few days hasn’t just affected us locally. Faced with the difficult weather conditions, numerous migrating Common Cranes had to use Cyprus as an alternative pit stop in their long journey.
Birdlife Cyprus posted photographs on their social media feed of these wonderfully elegant birds.
“They have had to put a pause to their long journey here in Cyprus, gathering at key locations around the island such as Akrotiri and Larnaka Salt Lakes and Kouklia Wetlands to rest and feed while they wait for clear skies ahead. Keep your ears open for their unceasing “krou-krou-krou” call as they fly overhead – usually one of the first signs of their presence,” said the comment of the Birdlife Cyprus’ post.
