Members of the public at around 9.30 pm on Wednesday night spotted a young man trying to steal a motorbike on the veranda of a house in the Limassol district, pursued, caught him and handed him over to the police.
Police determined that an arrest warrant was pending against the 17 year old youth in connection with inquiries into the theft of cash from the till of a Yermasoyia shop on Sunday.
The shop employees had told police that at around 5 am on Sunday, the 17 year old had entered the shop to say there was a fire outside. When the employee rushed out to check, the youth reportedly took the money from the till.
Police issued a warrant for his arrest. Yermasoyia police station is investigating both cases.
