Changes to Polis campsite stuck in court

Relevant News

Plans to upgrade the Polis Chrysochous campsite are in limbo pending a protracted legal dispute to evict the current tenant.

Polis Municipality has terminated the contract of the current tenant and has sued in court for him to vacate the site as the contract had expired.

In a bid to facilitate the process, it also forgave a whole year’s rents and also reduced sums for previous years.

However, a discussion of the issue at a recent meeting of the Polis Municipal Council showed that there has been little progress since May 2017 when the municipality notified the tenant to vacate the camping site.

Polis Chrysochous mayor Polis Papachristofi told PafosNet that the tenant needs to vacate the site so that plans to upgrade the camping site can proceed.

The municipality and the Cyprus Tourism Organisation have agreed on a plan to seek a strategic investor to undertake the upgrade of the camping site and to manage it.

Planned improvements include more parking, a children’s play area and more green areas.
