Cabinet meets to review covid situation, new restrictions possible

Cabinet is meeting on Thursday to review the prevailing negative epidemiological standing in Cyprus and discuss the possibility of additional restrictions to contain the further spread of the coronavirus.

The meeting will be preceded by one between Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou and the government’s health advisory committee.

Wednesday’s 127 cases marked another steep rise in infections over recent days and the Minister has already sent the message that Cyprus must get back to manageable levels.

And that a reduction in cases will take a few weeks to be achieved considering the recorded sharp rise.

Latest data shows that the total number of coronavirus cases in Cyprus has risen to 2,966.

In addition, it recorded 25 deaths and 1,444 recoveries.
