Movement restrictions are lifted as of today in the Turkish-held north and businesses reopen in the construction sector, retail, car sector and other, and the “public sector” operating by telephone appointments, electronically and by shift work.
According to the Turkish-Cypriot press, as of 6 am this morning citizens can move outside without limitation, both within cities and between them, but an overnight curfew from 9 pm until 6 am will remain in place until May 15 as will the partial ban on movement on Sundays.
As per the “ministerial council”‘s decision, the use of a face mask is obligatory for everyone.
Supermarkets will close at 8 pm daily and on Sundays, only supermarkets, pharmacies and gas stations will remain open. Banks operate normally as of today.
Schools, dining, meeting areas, indoor sports centres, hotels and casinos will remain closed until May 15.Â
From May 11, dining businesses can reopen only for home delivery and after their staff have been tested.
In customer service areas, antiseptics must be placed and maintaining social distancing as well as using a mask are obligatory.
Payments of a 215 euro allowance to private-sector employees also begin today until May 8. According to “labour ministry” data, 56,000 employers and workers applied for the scheme.
