Suspect, aged 64, admits to brutally killing homeless Romanian woman in Nicosia

Relevant News

Police said on Thursday a 64-year-old man arrested in connection with the brutal murder of homeless 55-year-old woman identified as Liliana Niteanu from Romania has just admitted he committed the crime.

The victim was found in an abandoned two-storey house off Kennedy Avenue in Nicosia wrapped in a sheet and with multiple head wounds on Tuesday afternoon.

The arrested man is not the husband of the woman whom he knew, a police spokesman also said.

A post mortem carried out on the homeless woman found that she died from haemorrhagic shock caused from injuries with a sharp object, Christo Andreou also said.

The scene remains cordoned off while police continues its investigations.

It is believed that the woman had found shelter there along with her husband and another person – not the one who is now facing pre-meditated murder charges.

The body was discovered by a building contractor who went there to carry out works.
