A 54-year-old man entered a high school in the city’s centre, and stole 200 euros from a teacher’s purse, Phileleftheros reported.

The theft occurred on Wednesday afternoon at the A’ Paphos High School, opposite the Paphos Town Hall.

Despite being noticed by both the teacher and private security guards of the school, the suspect managed to flee.

According to the complaint filed with the police, a school counsellor found the suspect going through the teacher’s bag.

When the counsellor confronted him, the 54-year-old grabbed 200 euros from the bag and started running.

The teacher tried to stop him while calling for help from colleagues and the private security guard of the school. However, the man managed to leave the school premises and got into his car parked in the parking area, and quickly drove away.

Based on the vehicle’s registration number, it was determined that the car belongs to a 54-year-old man from Larnaca, matching the description provided to the police by the complainant and other eyewitnesses.

A warrant for his arrest has been issued, and he is currently wanted by the authorities.
