A boat carrying more than 50 irregular migrants was spotted about five nautical miles east of Cape Greco and two coastguard vessels have been sent to render assistance and accompany it to the fishing shelter in Protaras.
The Cyprus News Agency said the 15 metre boat was spotted on the radar of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre.
The national plans relating to the arrival of irregular migrants have been activated and all relevant departments informed, it added.
