The government has placed barbed wire in several areas of Astromeritis which are under the control of the Republic of Cyprus aiming to face the illegal flows of migrants.
As Interior Minister Nikos Nouris told the state radio, the European Commission has been informed about the issue.
Nouris noted that recently the flows of illegal migrants into the government controlled areas had increased dramatically and for this reason the authorities proceed with the barbed wire.
As he noted the target is to make it clear to traffickers that they cannot enter into the government controlled areas freely.
