Back to school for driving students

Relevant News

Driving tests will start again on June 1 with new rules requiring teachers, candidates and examiners to wear a mask in the vehicle.

Authorities have asked driving schools to contact their students who had a test cancelled because of the lockdown so that these can be rescheduled.

Tests will be available in the afternoons, and possibly on Saturdays at no extra charge amid efforts to squeeze in as many missed tests as possible, they said.

The Health Ministry meanwhile has issued rules regarding hygiene and other requirements for driving lessons and tests.

Masks are mandatory but not gloves. There can be a maximum of three people in a car including the driver.

The rules cover the cleaning of the car.

It is recommended that the temperature of a student driver is taken before starting a lesson, but this is not mandatory. Students should also complete a questionnaire on whether they have any symptoms.

Government instructions must be followed as regards the operation of the A/c and windows must be open.
