Four people have been injured, one of them critically, after an altercation outside a pub in Ayia Napa at around 3 m on Tuesday morning.
Police said they were investigating a fight between eight people. Four people were taken to hospital with stab wounds. One of them, a 26 year old man from the Cameroon, underwent surgery for a stab wound to his stomach and his condition is described as critical.
A 24 year old and a 26 year old were admitted for treatment while the fourth, aged 26, was given first aid and discharged.
The other two injured men are a 26 year old Greek Cypriot who was passing by and a 26 year old Briton.
The Cyprus News Agency said the fight broke out when a Cameroonian said something to the sister of a British man.
The woman then hit the Cameroonian and others joined in the fight from both groups of youngsters. Someone then pulled out a knife which police recovered from the scene.
Police investigations continue. A spokesman said police was in the process of obtaining arrest warrants.
