Larnaca Assizes Court on Wednesday ruled that former Kiti Bishop Chrysostomos who is facing rape charges is fit to follow court proceedings.
The court has set July 26 as the date for the to begin, Philenews reports.
The defence team of the former bishop who is now in his ‘80s had argued that he is suffering from dementia and is unfit to follow court proceedings.
Chrysostomos was released on €50,000 bail and handed in his travel documents back in April over a case which stems from a woman alleging she was raped.
He is also accused of the indecent assault of a woman that was allegedly committed in November 1981. At the time, the woman was underage.
