Asprokremmos dam sees largest water inflow (photos+video)

The new year got off to a good start for Cyprus’ dams due to heavy rainfall in the past few days.

Water Department official Faidros Rousis told CNA that in the past 72 hours, 10.3 million cubic metres of water have flowed into Cypriot dams.

He said that dam storage levels are at 20%, compared to 13.1% the same time last year.

Asprokremmos dam in Paphos saw the largest water inflow in the past 24 hours with 0,907 million cubic metres of water.

Asprokremmos dam is the second largest dam in Cyprus. It is built at an altitude of about 100 m above sea level and is located 16 km, (10 miles) east of Paphos.

It is considered an important wetland for endemic and migratory birds.
