The Art Teachers Association calls on the Ministry of Education to recall its decision of a disciplinary investigation against Art Director George Gabriel.
George Gabriel is a visual artists whose recent paintings have caused a storm of reactions. These paintings posted by the artist himself on his personal Facebook account depict, among other things, Jesus Christ either naked or on a motorcycle or wearing a football team scarf. Something that has sparked a huge public debate online and fast became an issue of epic proportions.
The Association stresses that the reasons cited by the Ministry for initiating a disciplinary investigation are not related to the performance of Gabriel’s duties at the school where he is employed but to his capacity as a visual artist and expresses its disagreement with the disciplinary investigation.
