Police are looking for a 26 year old Nigerian who escaped a little after he was arrested on suspicion of trying to enter the government controlled areas illegally through the Ayios Dhometios checkpoint.
One of the policemen involved in the arrest was suspended and will be investigated.
The 26 year old was in the back seat of a car driven by a Greek Cypriot which crossed into the government controlled areas yesterday afternoon.
Both men were arrested, but the Nigerian managed to make a getaway, still in handcuffs.
