Applications open for emergency funds for animal NGOs

The Vet services are accepting applications for emergency funds from registered animal welfare associations and volunteers who care for abandoned animals.

Cabinet yesterday approved €50,000 in emergency funds so that animal welfare associations and volunteers can buy food for animals under their care. Individuals or groups of volunteers can submit their applications through registered associations it said.

The money will be disbursed taking into consideration the number of animals under their care.

Required documents/ information that must accompany applications:

–   Official registration from the district officer/ association commissioner/ registrar of companies (provided these have not already been submitted). Animal welfare associations must also submit their statutes of establishment proving they are active in animal welfare (provided these have not already been submitted).

–      IBAN Certificate of the association’s bank account issued at most one month before the application is submitted

–      Authorisation for FIMAS (provided these have not already been submitted)

–      Solemn declaration of the president or director of the association or company stating the number of animals under their care; the number of animals under the care of volunteers which it is representing for the purposes of this application and an undertaking to submit receipts the money has been used to buy food for animals from March 9
