Due to a series of draft laws that the House Legal Committee is currently discussing, radical changes are expected to the Family Law. Several laws have remained unchanged for 30 years and modern relations have changed and so have the needs of children.
Issue of divorces by one judge instead of three that is currently the case, property shared equally instead of the 1/3 that the woman currently gets, provisions even about the child’s last name or in which school the child will go, while amicable divorce agreements will be issued and not against one of the spouses. Regarding child care, both parent are equally responsible and they agree on the place of the child’s residence.
It is noted that the draft laws had been discussed by the previous Parliament during several sessions and now the new Parliament is aiming to complete the discussion and ratify them.
