Almost all Holy Synod members to be vaccinated against covid-19

Almost all members of the Mediterranean island’s Holy Synod said they will be vaccinated against the coronavirus, despite attempts by some to demonise it, Philenews reports.

First to dismiss conspiracy theories against the vaccine was Archbishop Chrysostomos himself.

Bishop of Kykkos and Tyllyrias Nikiforos Paphos Bishop Georgios and Bishop of Tamasou Isaias followed suit.

Unsurprisingly, controversial Morphou Bishop Neophytos who called on faithful to ignore state decrees banning church congregation strongly objects to any inoculation.

“There is no human being, even among those who have emonised the vaccine, to refuse to be vaccinated if his/her doctor says it will save his/her life,” a member of the Synod told Philenews.

“However, no one should be forced to be vaccinated and those who do decide to be vaccinated should not burden their conscience with unscientific and unconfirmed speculation,” he added.

The Holy Synod recently met with the scientific medical team advising the government on the pandemic and reportedly got clarifications to a number of queries.
